is to provide housing and basic necessities to the homeless through a Drop-In-Center and Emergency Shelter. Our focus is to guide individuals toward achievement of self-sufficiency and independent living.
ASAP has operated at 11th Ave S. in St. Petersburg since 1986. This non-profit organization is made up of many dedicated volunteers, from its Board to the many generous individuals who make donations of time, goods and money, and through grants from various government agencies. ASAP has a paid staff consisting of an Executive Director and Case Manager. They are supported by up to 4 Night Monitors and an Administrative Assistant. Over 80% of our income is directly spent on client services. The remainder is spent on staff and fund raising.
ASAP is governed by a Board of Directors consisting of up to 16 volunteers who are responsible for setting goals and monitoring operations. The Board is supported by an Advisory Board, also made up of volunteers, and many other volunteers work on site and on our fundraisers.

We are seeking Board Members to contribute their time and talents. Board members attend a monthly evening meeting & serve on at least one committee. A Grant Writer is also needed. If you are interested, please call 727-823-5665.
Right now, we’re going through challenging times, with our operating reserves stressed by reduced cash flow. Like many other non-profits in Florida, the level of individual donations coming into ASAP is down. We all share concerns about rising costs for fuel and food, and decreasing home values. Yet, the financial strain we feel pales in comparison to the challenges homeless families face. So, even if all you can send is $75, it will help make a difference in the lives of these families who are trying to better themselves! And your continued support during these fall and winter months will enable us to keep the lights on until the dawn comes.
